Affordable Dental Insurance For Seniors
on November 2nd, 2011 at 11:31 pmHow to Find Affordable Dentures
Are you trying to find affordable dentures? Well, good luck. You can pretty much expect to spend ,000.00 or more easily. There is a way that you can avoid this, however, surprisingly most people have never heard of it. Have you ever heard of dental discount plans? A dental discount plan is exactly what it sounds like, a discount plan. By joining one of these plans you can save anywhere from 10 to 60% off of standard dental procedures. Let me give you an example of how this works.
Let's say that you need new dentures immediately, but you simply can't afford to pay full price. Well, with a dental discount plan you won't have to. The following example is based on a plan that was taken from the Englewood, Colorado area. Plans in your area may offer either greater or or lower savings.
The cost for an individual dental discount plan is only .95 for an entire year. The cost for a dental discount plan for an entire family is only 9.95 per year. The usual cost for a full upper denture in this area is 52.00. By having the discount plan your cost would only be 4, for a savings of 8. Let's take the higher cost for the plan and say that you are going to have your entire family benefit. In this case, we would deduct 9.95 from the 8 that was saved. Your final savings would be 8.05. If you do not have a family, and only needed individual care, then the deduction would be .95 from the 8 that was saved for a total savings of 8.05.
The savings shown above does not even include other benefits such as discounted cleanings, x-rays, sealants, crowns, root canals and a much, much more. Once again, these figures are for the Englewood Colorado area and may be greater or lower in the area in which you live. Dental costs tend to be a bit higher in rural areas than they do and competitive city markets. This is one of the best ways that I know of to find affordable dentures.

So Dental Work/Ear pieces for seniors-mom is 65?
Ok so my mom has medicare ONLY no medical insurance.
She needs dental work done, and an ear piece does anyone know of any assistance to get that done? As in a cheap place, but good of course-she has great doctors, but I want one that is affordable if possible.
I have taken care of all of her other needs and pretty much down to these two.
We live in Texas if that means anything.
Thanks peoples!
I am a senior on Medicare also. I am sorry to tell you Medicare never covered dental services. And Medicaid in my state no longer covers dental work, if she were to apply. It might be different in your state.
Medicare does cover one hearing aid. You have to find out which place accepts Medicare for that and have her tested by an audiologist first. Try to find the best you can.
Some hearing aid makers offer discounts to seniors. You have to call either a consumer advocate or senior referral or look in the phone book for hearing aid manufacturers.
For dental work, the only suggestions are to go to a dental college and get student dentist, find a county or community clinic that offers dental services, or get the GE Care Credit credit card for dental and medical services.
Your state might have some charitable agencies that have some financial assistance. You really have to hunt around.
best vision/dental and health insurance for seniors?
Hi, I am shopping around for best and affordable vision/dental/health insurance plans for my mom who is 58 years old. She doesn’t have any coverage right now. Any ideas what companies are there that offer these plans at affordable rates?
For Houston, Texas.
Blue Cross is pretty good..
To all those opposed to health care reform and affordable health care..what should we do?
what should we do with working families that do not make enough to afford good preventative health care and dental care? which as we know is even more important than emergency care…for it is good preventative care that reduces major health problems.
So the question is ….ok..you are opposed to health care reform, but what would we do with senior citizens who cant afford to pay for all the medicines that they are taking, or a family of six, whose employers do not offer health insurance and the family has to go buy health insurance at $500 per month on a salary of $40,000 per year? or any other endless examples that say clearly that health care and health insurance costs are out of control…I am speaking not of bums who are not working, but working americans who are in a crisis. Plus the bums as you call them..what should happen to them? no health care at all? just let them die off in some street corner?
drinking water is a human right.
air to breathe is a human right
privacy is a human right
peace and pursuit of happiness are human rights
Affordable good preventative health care is a human right.
WE should have a sliding scale similar to this: Any family earning less than $150,000 per year qualifies for a tax credit for any insurance premiums they have to personally pay for, all the way down to families making at least $70,000 per year. Families making less than $70,000 per year get a smaller tax break, but also get a discount of up to 50% of the cost of their insurance. So they would have to go out and get their insurance and the insurance company can bill the fed government for the part the customer did not pay. Families or households making less than $25,000 per year, get free healthcare if they can provide proof of citizenship.
